Dyson’s first blade-less humidifier keeps your family healthy and comfortable

Dyson has been pushing home appliance technology forward for many years now with its bagless cyclone vacuums and blade-less fans. Its desktop and home pedestal fans use something called Air Multiplier technology, which as you have likely seen, allows the popular Dyson machines to blow air like a typical fan without the moving parts. At the time, the tech was a first in home consumer goods and now the company is capitalizing on it to enter a new product category.

The company’s latest gadget comes in the form of a humidifier that leverages the advancements Dyson has made with its other products into a safe and healthy way to keep your home comfortable.

Dyson is keeping innovation and the health of your family in mind with its new humidifier. The $60.4 million and nearly 650 prototypes it took to develop the new device goes to show how serious it is.

The company says most offerings on the market are advertised as a way to not only keep your home comfortably humid, but also to remove toxins and bacteria from the air. Dyson says this simply isn’t the case and most products actual cultivate these types of germs in the reservoir. On Dyson’s humidifier, the water particles pass through ultraviolet light twice to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria present before being blasted out into your home, according to the company. The 3-Liter water reservoir lasts for up to 18 hours and features convenient scheduling functionality.

Dyson claims its new humidifier is much more efficient when it comes to coverage due to the advanced Air Multiplier tech as well. After passing through the ultraviolet light, the tiny water molecules shoot up the side of the loop to be dispersed through your home or office. Another major benefit of having Dyson’s Multiplier tech built-in is that it doubles as your basic Dyson fan during the more humid times of year.

Unfortunately, the new Dyson AM10 Humidifier won’t be available for sometime in the US. It is expected to hit store shelves in Japan shortly but we won’t see it until fall of 2015 here in the US. Dyson is yet to slap a price tag on its latest offering, but judging by its current generation vacuums and fans, it likely wont be cheap.
