Wii U and the new 3DS handheld are rocking right now thanks to some major releases over the past year. Nintendo’s E3 announcements only upped the ante for these consoles and set the stage for a strong 2015/2016 showing. Head below for the most important news that Nintendo dropped on us so far this week:

Nintendo is revamping Super Smash Brothers for Wii U and 3DS with a slew of content updates. First, a number of new Mii Fighter costumes inspired by Splatoon, Megaman and Animal Crossing are being made available. On the heels of a wave 4 sell out, Nintendo announced that each of the 51 Super Smash Bros. fighters will eventually be getting immortalized as an amiibo figure with a new batch coming this September that includes Mii Fighters, R.O.B., Duck Hunt, Mr. Game & Watch, and Falco.

Along with announcing Roy and Lucas as new characters, Nintendo gave us a big Hadoken to the face — Ryu from Street Fighter 2 will also be joining the battle. Check out pricing and availability for all of this new DLC and more right here.

It’s time to do a barrel roll with Fox and his gang as they make their official Wii U debut as part of Star Fox Zero. This new chapter in the Star Fox world offers a fresh storyline as its not a prequel or a sequel to Star Fox 64. It stands on its own. The character cast includes Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy with added dialogue from Fox McCloud. Nintendo did a couple unique things to gameplay with this title:

Using the Wii U GamePad controller and the TV together creates a unique interface that allows players to experience the game with two different viewpoints within the Arwing – aim and shoot enemies in one direction while flying in another.

The Wii U gamepad also acts as another level of sound creating a unique audio experience where it feels like the characters are talking in your ear. The Arwing now has a new Walker transformation feature that allows you take on enemies from the ground and explore levels in a whole new way. Star Fox Zero is scheduled for a holiday 2015 release and is now available for pre-order.

After 30 years of Mario games Nintendo is putting gamers in control of the plumbers next adventure. Super Mario Maker lets you create your own game levels from the Wii U GamePad. The possibilities are nearly endless. Place enemies, blocks, pipes and other obstacles anywhere you want. Create a classic style level or something a bit wacky:

Break the conventions of traditional Super Mario gameplay by blending enemies, traps and items into unexpected twists, like Piranha Plant-shooting cannons, power-up-tossing Lakitus, or even Hammer Bros. riding on Bowser while bouncing on trampolines.

Available level styles and features are pulled from four different Mario games: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. U. You’ll also be able to play different creations from Nintendo and other gamers. Nintendo will also be releasing a super-sized 8-bit Mario amiibo that’ll add a Big Mushroom power-up to courses. Super Mario Maker is due on September 11th and pre-orders are open now. Head to participating Best Buy locations this week to play an advanced copy of the game.

Nintendo dished up more details on the absolutely adorable Yoshi’s Woolly World. The deeper we get into this game the more it makes us go ‘awwwww.’ Take a look at this gameplay trailer — it looks like it’s shaping up to be a really fun platforming game. You can even use other amiibo including Mario and Samus to transform yarn Yoshi’s in-game look. Yoshi’s Woolly World is scheduled to be released on October 16th and is now available for pre-order at a $10 discount.
