The newest Garmin Fitness Tracker delivers a ‘Suffer Score’ after each of your workouts

Garmin’s new GPS-enabled fitness tracker is loaded with features including an oddly-named “suffer score” that tells you just how hard you exercised. The Forerunner 735XT is now the top-of-the-line model in the company’s lineup. Naturally, it has a price to match. For $450, this wearable better do it all…

Garmin certainly went big on the Forerunner 735XT. It has an Elevate heart rate monitor that works in conjunction with Strava’s previously mentioned Suffer Score. The accompanying app tracks your data over a longer period of time to measure your current heart rate against past workouts. In turn, it can accurately identify how hard you are exercising, according to Garmin.

The 735XT isn’t just a one-trick pony, it’s designed for all kinds of activities. Features like 50-meter waterproofing, multi-sport tracking and compatibility with Garmin’s line of biking gear make this a desirable alternative for serious athletes. At $450, it’s likely going to be a product with limited interest from weekend warriors. Although it has a nice design, many entry-level features can be had for less elsewhere.

Garmin has also built its latest fitness tracker to double as a smartwatch. The color display is powered by an impressive battery that can last up to 11 days, although it’s limited to around 14 hours of use while training. The Garmin Connect IQ store provides access to a library of free apps, watch faces and other customizable features. Naturally, it can alert you of calls, emails, messages and social networking notifications.

Interested? The new Garmin Forerunner 735XT is available for purchase today for $450 in two colors: black or midnight blue. Additionally, Amazon is offering bundles that are designed for runners and tri-athletes.
