STOA vintage arcade cabinets are the coolest gaming accessory this year

With the release of NES Classic late in 2016, it seems like interest in vintage gaming is more popular than ever before. So it’s no surprise that companies are looking to cash in on this trend. The latest of which is STOA out of London, who are cranking out gorgeous handmade arcade cabinets by hand. With bright colors and modern designs, these are a must-see for any gaming enthusiast.

STOA’s Replay cabinets were created with three main goals in mind. First off, the brand firmly believes that its arcade cabinets are the ultimate way to enjoy any gaming title. From the stick-based controls to an immersive screen and audio experience, it doesn’t get much better than an old-school arcade machine.

Which leads us to the point of STOA’s mission: bringing back these classic titles in their purest form. Many of the popular games that we look back on fondly today were designed for an arcade experience, not to be remade with a Wii U controller. By going back to the old-school stick controls gamers are guaranteed that as-intended feel.

Another area of strong focus for STOA is design. It is no surprise that some of the modern day (and original) arcade machines fail to fit with modern day decor. The customized attention-to-detail focus is what makes these Replay cabinets so desirable. Each made-by-hand unit is crafted with the needs and direction of the customer. Need a certain color combination? Done. That’s what truly makes Replay standout from the competition.

After coming up with a design, STOA will work with you to put together a customized library of games. Whether it’s 80s classic like Mario or popular fighters from the 90s, you can put together a Replay cabinet for your exact needs. This starts with choosing the right display for your games. SOTA offers a variety of 4:3 monitors with the proper resolution to match your selected titles. Even better? You can include software that generates scanlines for an even greater authentic experience. Titles vary by availability, but currently Namco and Capcom games are generally licensed for these setups according to STOA. Customers can supply their own titles upon arrival. You can see more examples of available titles here.

You’ll have your choice of one- or two-player setups, depending on the games that you’ve chosen and whether or not your friends plan on joining in. The same customization applies to the button layouts, which range in color and number.

So how do you get a Replay arcade cabinet for yourself? STOA makes each unit by hand, so you’ll need to contact them directly to get the ball rolling. Each model is priced based on your needs, but we’re certain that it will be a fairly significant investment to get started.

Best of all? No need to keep a jar of quarters around for gameplay.
