Powered by a version of Android, the IQ Panel 2 is an elegant, modern, 7-inch touchscreen monitor that features an intuitive swipe-based user interface. If that isn’t enough, it also has LTE and W-Fi connectivity, a 5MP camera, and Z-Wave Plus.
Qolsys is a company known for it’s encrypted sensor technology and is continuing to innovate with added features like Bluetooth touchless disarming, remote diagnostic tools, and glass break detection. The Bluetooth disarming feature allows up to five authenticated smartphones to automatically disarm the security system as the user approaches the home.
IQ Panel 2 uses end-to-end encryption with cloud token authentication, and also ground-breaking Dual Path communication over cellular and Wi-Fi. Utilizing the dynamic swipe and scroll-based user interface, Z-Wave supported devices include lights, locks, thermostats, garage door openers, and much more. The clean and intuitive graphical touch screen is familiar to any smartphone and tablet user.
Qolsys has many plans for the future of its new product. One notable feature is support for up to three secondary IQ Remote touchpads for extension to other areas of the home. Soon you’ll also be able to use the panel camera as a motion detector. If that’s not enough, there will even be military-grade wireless encryption technology, making for a stronger protection from radio frequency interference and better overall security system reliability.
In general, this is a special product for all of us because it genuinely combines most of the necessary features that we’d like to see in smart systems. I personally love the idea of a main touch screen device to control the common activities of the home.
