Roku has made a serious effort in the last few years to bring its streaming OS to a variety of platforms. With stiff competition from Apple TV and Amazon’s own devices, partnering with manufacturers has proven to be a solid move for Roku. Many of these releases have been budget-focused with brands such as TCL offering new sets in recent months.

Today’s release comes courtesy of RCA with integrated Roku services and a low entry price. Starting at under $200 makes these new TVs affordable for many, but you’ll find that one notable feature has been omitted.

RCA’s new TVs will roll out in three different sizes: 32, 43 and 50-inches, with the smallest of the three sporting a 720p panel. The larger two will support 1080p, but you won’t find 4K anywhere here. For the price – all under $500 – this isn’t particularly surprising, but TCL managed to fit it in for a similar going rate.

The draw of Roku’s streaming platform is it supports virtually every streaming service on the market today. For someone looking for an affordable entry-point with Netflix or Hulu directly integrated, look for these new RCA TVs to be a solid option.

Despite our complaints about a lack of 4K, the reality is that little content is available for Ultra HDTVs these days. Many shoppers that would consider a budget TV like this likely aren’t going to be reaching for this emerging technology anyways.

One thing we do appreciate about RCA’s latest release is that each model ships with an integrated TV tuner. Over the last year or so we’ve seen more manufacturers drop this feature in favor of slimmer designs. The ability to still use an external HD antenna to cash in on free channels make this set a solid cord-cutting option.

The new RCA Roku TV lineup is available at Amazon today, with some models currently backordered.
