Ubiquiti Networks is announcing the new FrontRow wearable camera today. The lightweight device supports dual cameras and touch screens allowing users to capture life moments with as little effort as possible.

FrontRow is essentially a pair of 2-inch touchscreens with built-in cameras, speakers and microphones. Users wear it around their neck via the included lanyard or the multi-purpose magnetic clip. It also supports third-party chains and will have a line of add-on accessories made available soon including a car window hanger and a flexible coil mount.

The primary camera supports a 140-degree wide angle lens, which is roughly double that of a typical smartphone according to Ubiquiti. While the companion iOS/Android app brings most of the capture and remote control capabilities to the table, it also allows for up to 2 hours of live streaming directly from your chest. FrontRow’s UI supports “instant” live streaming on social networks including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and more.

You can also make use of something it refers to as Story Mode which basically takes a time-lapse style capture for as long as 16 hours.

It features a USB-C connector with a 2-hour quick charge function. The “easy-access clickable media button” allows users to control everything from capture settings to media playback.

The whole thing seems a little superfluous considering it’s not quite rugged enough for action-heavy shoots and doesn’t really do much your phone can’t do already. However, it is easy to see something like this becoming a bit of a fashion trend for some. I mean Rae Sremmurd took a check to put one on so, anything could happen.

Remember Apple’s old Front Row feature? I wonder if they had to clear the name.

FrontRow is available for purchase now at $399 in Jet Black. The Rose Gold option is still listed as” Coming Soon…”

FrontRow’s user experience is unlike any camera brought to market. Built around a custom 2-inch circular hi-resolution touch screen, FrontRow’s user interface allows instant live streaming on social networks including Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, as well as integration with a variety of popular applications like Dropbox, Spotify, and more. Fast Bluetooth allows effortless connectivity to smartphones running the FrontRow App (iOS and Android compatible) and provides seamless captured media transfer along with powerful remote control capabilities. The device can also be accessed (even remotely) through the Internet using the web UI controller at frontrow.com.
