As we continue our march towards integrating tech into every product within our homes, today’s topic is luggage. Brands like Bluesmart come to mind first when considering how features like location tracking and smartphone charging have been leveraged in this category recently. Now, Incase is making its own play into “smart” luggage with the new NoviConnected 4.

This travel roller suitcase offers a wide range of features including integrated charging (USB-C!), TSA-approved locks and more. All of which is controlled via the free iPhone app which has a full range of features. But like most products in this category, you’ll be left to decide if the $300 price tag is worth an investment.

Let’s start with the basic features first, which for Incase includes a polycarbonate shell that’s designed for the bumps and bruises that come with travel. The classic roller design sports four wheels on the bottom that can turn in any direction while dodging security lines. You’ll have a choice of six different glossy colors to choose from and the aforementioned wheels are removable if the situation were to arise.

Incase has opted for a polyester-lined interior that should offer plenty of protection for your valuables. There are designated sleeves for MacBook and iPad storage, as well as any other gear. On top you’ll find the 10,050mAh battery pack that offers USB-C charging. Incase includes a USB cable with purchase, or you can supply your own, obviously. The internal battery is powered by a proprietary cable, so you’ll want to be sure to hang on to that while traveling. Incase’s smartphone app offers a detailed look at charging levels and last known location of the attached Bluetooth beacon.

Go powered with the next generation of travel, NoviConnected. Constructed from class-A makrolon polycarbonate shell, polyester jacquard interior liner and removable, smooth glide wheels, it’s engineered for performance. It features a spacious main compartment with an integrated TSA approved lock and comes equipped with an app controlled, 10050mAh battery bank capable of simultaneously charging USB-C and USB devices, transforming every terminal, station or port into a personal power hub. 1.5 meter USB-C to USB-C cable is included.

The easy comparison to Incase’s latest release is Bluesmart. Its recently-released Cabin luggage starts at $325 and offers a few more features. That includes built-in GPS and 3G tracking, dual USB ports and a digital lock. Incase is arguably a more established brand, but doesn’t bring as many ‘wow’ features to the table.

If you’re interested in purchasing, the new Incase NoviConnected 4 Wheel Travel Roller is available today. There are six colors options to choose from at $299.95 shipped direct from Incase.
