Amazon launches #AmazonCart for shopping directly on Twitter

Today, Amazon is launching a new feature called #AmazonCart in connection with Twitter that allows users to add items to their Amazon cart directly via the social network.

After connecting your Amazon account from within your Twitter settings, replying to tweets containing links to Amazon products with #AmazonCart will automatically add that item to your shopping cart. You’re not actually purchasing the item you’re replying to in this case, you are simply adding it to your cart for checkout via the traditional method.

Many of our deals, along with things like Amazon’s Lightning sales, can be time very sensitive so be sure to keep that in mind when adding particular sale items via the new #AmazonCart feature seen on the 9to5Toys Twitter feed. AMEX and Twitter also have a very similar deal set-up right now, that can actually net you some savings along with the added convenience.

Amazon will then fire you off both an email and a tweet letting you know the process was successful and whether or not that particular item is in stock. While obviously not an overly impressive feature, it can be a convenient way to bookmark items you’re interested in without having to leave Twitter.

The feature is only currently available in the US and UK (where it’s appropriately referred to as #AmazonBasket). You can find additional info, an FAQ and a quick link to connect your accounts on the official #AmazonCart page.
