Microsoft is handing out $75 in credit to select gamers for upgrading to Xbox One

Xbox One credit-promo-02

Microsoft is handing out $75 in credit to select Xbox gamers as incentive to upgrade to Xbox One. Originating from a NeoGaf post, reports began surfacing yesterday of certain individuals receiving a message via Xbox Live on their 360’s informing them of the promotional upgrade offer.

Unfortunately, there is still no clear indication as to who is actually receiving these offers and what it takes to be eligible, but it looks as though they are going out to Xbox’s “very best customers,” according to the text on the promo message. More details below:

The easiest way to check if you are eligible is to simply boot up your 360 (connected to Live) and hope you got the message. Various online reports seem to point at users who already have the Xbox One receiving this message on their 360’s as well, so its hard to tell who Microsoft is trying to target here.

Those who receive the message are eligible for a $75 credit towards future games, add-ons and movies with the purchase of an Xbox One (bundle or the Kinect-less option). After purchasing a regular priced console from any major retailer and activating it online, Microsoft will send the $75 credit via your Xbox One message center (by August 15), at which point it must be redeemed by October 15 and spent within a year of that date.

While we have seen Xbox One (w/Kinect) bundles available with a game for $440 and without Kinect and a game for $360 previously, this essentially brings the price of the Kinect-less Xbox One down to $325 (in value) leaving plenty of room for a brand new title or two discounted ones.

Keep an eye on our daily game round ups for all the best gaming deals, Best Buy is offering students a $50 Xbox gift card with the purchase of Xbox One right now and eBay has a brand new PlayStation 4 for $360 shipped (within $10 of lowest price ever).
