Neato’s next gen robotic vacuums might be its quietest and best looking yet

Neato-Botvac-D series-01

We regularly feature robotic vacuum solutions in our daily home goods roundup, and today Neato is introducing its new line of automated floor cleaners. Much like you’ve seen from previous gen Botvacs and XV Neato products, the new Botvac D series features the company’s Botvision laser navigation, SpinFlow power cleaning technology and are made to “automatically and methodically vacuum every day, whether you’re home or not.” But where the refreshed lineup stands apart is in the “sleek” design, newly designed spiral brushes and more:

Along with the new spiral blade brush that can handle a “wider variety of floor surfaces,” the new D series is apparently much quieter than previous gen versions on hard floors. The onboard Botvision tech ensures Neato vacs take care of business in a methodical way, leaving straight lines on your carpet and tackling each room in an efficient manner, according to the company.

Split into three models, the D75, D80 and D85, the latter two are designed specifically for taking care of pet hair and will run you an extra $50 -$100. The D75 has a suggested retail price of $499 and is the workhorse model that is “especially efficient on hardwood floors.” The D80 and D85 include a combo brush and an even quieter operation starting at $549 and going up to $599. It looks like we are going to see a July 1st launch date — the $399 D75 is already up for order at Amazon.

NEWARK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Every home has its share of tracked in dirt, crumbs, dust bunnies and maybe pet hair on the floor, but most people dread the thought of vacuuming every day to keep the debris at bay. Enter Neato Robotics, offering a new line of smart and powerful robot vacuums that automatically and methodically vacuum every day, whether you’re home or not.

“A Neato robot vacuum is truly a ‘bot with a brain,’”

The Neato Botvac D Series, announced today, sports a sleek, modern, black-and-white design in Neato’s unique D-shape and an ingenious new brush system that navigates a wider variety of floor surfaces and is quieter on hard surfaces.

The new Botvac D Series models are:

  • The Botvac D75: Perfect for everyday cleaning on all floor types and includes a newly designed spiral blade brush. It’s a powerful vacuum that will devour all those things that land on your floor and is especially efficient on hardwood floors. Suggested retail price is $499.
  • The Botvac D80 and D85: Ideal for everyday cleaning on all floor types and include filters and brushes specially designed for maximum hair pick up – pet or otherwise. In addition to the new spiral blade brush, these models come with a combination brush that allows a quieter vacuuming experience. Suggested retail price is $549-$599.

“A Neato robot vacuum is truly a ‘bot with a brain,’” said Giacomo Marini, Neato’s chairman and CEO. “Neato knows where it’s been, where it’s going and how to navigate an entire house. No other robot vacuum has this kind of intelligence. The addition of a Neato to a home means one more task can be taken off the household chore list, leaving the owner with the gift of time to do other things.”

All Neato robot vacuums use the company’s patented Neato Botvision™ technology that combines laser scanning, room mapping and real time object detection to plan the most efficient course to clean a home in record time. It can move from room to room, and knows when to return to its base for recharging — and then automatically goes back to the exact spot where it left off to finish the job. Unlike round robot vacuums that randomly bounce around a room, Neato moves in a methodical path, leaving straight lines on the carpet for that just-vacuumed, clean-home look.

Neato’s advanced SpinFlow™ Power Clean system, a combination of powerful suction and precision brushes, easily removes pet hair and debris from all floor surfaces, including hardwood, tile and carpet. Neato’s unique D-shape and patented CornerClever™ technology means Neato moves deftly into corners where dirt and crumbs often hide. With the largest brushes and dirt bins on the market, Neato covers more square footage and picks up more debris than any other robot vacuum.

The Botvac D Series joins Neato’s two other families of well-regarded robot vacuums: the Neato Botvac™ Series and the Neato XV™ Series which are available at all major online and brick and mortar retail partners. The D Series is available for pre-order this week through Amazon and Best Buy with delivery in July in the United States, and availability in Asia Pacific and Europe set for the third quarter of the year.
