The N64 Anthology dives into the history behind Nintendo’s iconic gaming console

It’s been just over 20 years since Nintendo released the N64 gaming console. While we’ve come a long way in that time, games like Super Mario 64, Golden Eye, and Super Smash Bros. still ring true for avid gamers. In hopes of cashing on in your nostaglia, an upcoming coffee table book is slated for release later this month that documents the highs and lows of this mid-90’s favorite. The Nintendo 64 Anthology Collector’s Edition interviews notable producers from this era, dives into the entire 388 game library and includes beautiful high resolution imagery.

Designed with fans in mind, this encyclopedia goes beyond the original N64. It goes deep into the decision making behind this console and subsequent bundles that were released over time. Each accessory is detailed with stories about design as well as pricing. If you have a Nintendo fan on your holiday shopping list, this is a must-have. The Nintendo 64 Anthology Collector’s Edition is available for pre-order today from Amazon for $27 with a late November ship date. And don’t forget about the recently-released Play With Power book and Nintendo’s lust-worthy NES Classic console that is now available (if you’re lucky).

September 29th, 2016, marks the Nintendo 64’s twentieth anniversary. To celebrate the birth of this incredibly avant-gardist machine, Matt Manent has written the most comprehensive and remarkable book about this legendary console. 348 pages long, this book inventories and chronicles the entire game library (388 games sold in Japan, the US, Europe, and Australia), sifts through the canceled games, accessories, collector’s editions, and, of course, every Nintendo 64 version and bundle. By interviewing the people involved at the time – Martin Hollis (Rare – GoldenEye) and Eric Caen (Titus – Superman; acknowledged as one of the machine’s worst games)- Matt Manent has worked to make this book an encyclopedia honoring the Nintendo 64 we’ve all come to love.
