Uni Bolt self-balancing electric unicycle boasts a 22mph top speed

Unicycles never really caught on as a means of transportation for the masses. But now with the recent popularity of electric vehicles, it seems like one-wheeled rides may be getting a second chance at success. That’s where the recently launched Uni Bolt Kickstarter campaign comes in, which offers all the joy of a classic unicycle but with a gyroscope-based self-balancing system and 22mph top speeds.

Claiming to be the first electric unicycle with built-in gyroscope, the Uni Bolt’s body is comprised of a military-grade steel metal alloy. While still managing to keep it relatively lightweight, the frame is also durable enough for off-road traversal. Equipped with an all-terrain tire, it is also said to handle anything from potholes to rough roads and more.

The Uni Bolt’s core functionality lies in its GyroForce System, which offers a fairly unique means of controlling the vehicle. Rather than relying on a handlebar-mounted throttle to alter speed or turn, it acts much like a Segway. Meaning you’ll lean forwards, sideways or backwards to accelerate, steer and slow down. Accompanying this control system is a brake lever to ensure you never have an issue stopping on time.

With an all-electric drivetrain, you can expect to reach top speeds of 22mph and travel up to 25 miles on a single charge. In terms of charging, the Uni Bolt is said to fully power up in just 45 minutes. Other pieces of functionality like the front-mounted flood light and horn round out the features list. Along with the front-facing 1,000 lumen LED light you’ll find two rear LEDs to help maintain your visibility when riding in low-light conditions.

Having raised over $25,000, the Uni Bolt has already surpassed the initial goal with 37 days still left in its campaign. Starting at the Super Early Bird Special price of $999, you’ll be able to pick up one of the single-wheeled vehicles. Uni Bolt are then said to be shipping at the end of the year in December, that is, assuming all goes well until then.

While the Uno Bolt isn’t the most practical electric vehicle by any means, it is definitely one of the most unique. It won’t be your go-to for getting to work or running errands, but looks to offer a more entertaining ride than traditional electric bicycles and scooters.

Uno Bolt is the worlds first e-unicycle with Gyro Force Technology. With built-in stabilizer sensors, it’s the quickest responding gyroscope to be put into a one wheel machine. Uno Bolt, bolting away with style and precision.
