This high-tech charcoal grill starts as easy as a gas one

What if there were a way to have the flavor you get from a charcoal grill but with the ease of an electronic controlled gas one? No more messing around with lighter fluid, the HUB grill by Heston Blumenthal starts with an electric switch just like your typical gas grill. This high-tech HUB also features a built-in rotisserie, however it won’t come with the average charcoal grill price tag.

The Hub is the largest of the Everdure grills and takes its design from minimalist Danish stylings. When you first look at it, you’ll notice a black frame with orange accents giving it the feel of a fire coming up from burning charcoal. However, the best qualities aren’t just its style but the features it hides underneath. It has a fast flame ignition system that is truly unique to this grill. With a fusion of electricity and an integrated heating element, it’s a technological alternative to barbecue lighting and a first of its kind.

You simply have to add charcoal, press the ignition button and the barbecue can be ready to cook on within ten minutes. That’s without the need for chemicals, firelighters or lighter fluid. This built-in ignition system is an entirely new feature for BBQs and promises to not only to simplify the process of cooking on a barbecue, but has been claimed to preserve the flavor and quality of food during the cooking process.

Another great aspect of the electric ignition system is that it may stop burns each year from using flammable fuel. The Hub is safely powered by electric motors and requires access to an electrical outlet within a close range for usage.

The idea behind the making of this grill is largely based on the desire to get back to classic chargrilled flavor when cooking with BBQs. There’s a delicate balance that sometimes leads home cooking to burnt meat. As the largest model of the Everdure range, the Hub has many of features designed specifically for heavy-duty cooking. The rotisserie component rises up from inside the main body. With a 40kg capacity, it’s even large enough to slow-roast a whole chicken.

Everdure grills by Heston Blumenthal are now available with prices ranging from £149/$193 to £1,499/$1,945.
