Neato’s latest robotic vacuum sports advanced floor mapping, Alexa integration and more

The Internet of Things as well as general smartphone connected gadgets and appliances were once again a big hit at IFA. In the home goods space, this week Neato showcased a new addition to its popular lineup of smart vacuums. Touting a refinished exterior as well as enhanced features, the new Botvac D7 looks to be the finest robotic vacuum on the market.

Neato has been in the robotic vacuum game for some time now, having released a variety of models to fill out the company’s line up. With the reveal of its latest version, Neato has opted to not only provide a new metallic finish designed to better handle wear and tear, but also drastically add to its bevy of features.

Much like other robotic vacuums on the market, Neato’s D7 utilizes laser navigation to scan multiple rooms and clean in the quickest route possible. On a single charge, the bot can traverse around 5,000 square feet, which should be plenty for most sized homes.

In terms of atypical features, the Botvac D7 sports integration with notable platforms such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, IFTTT and even Apple Watch via the companion iOS app. While these connections bolster one’s ability to command the smart vacuum, they aren’t the biggest selling point with Neato’s latest model.

Deemed FloorPlanner, the new function allows users to create a map of their homes for the Botvac D7 to traverse during its routine cleaning session. While this may not seem like a leading feature, it then allows certain areas in one’s home to be specified as “on-go” zones, meaning you can easily keep the autonomous vacuum from rooms or areas where it may cause trouble.

Thanks to upgraded internal hardware, the D7 is said to be the company’s most intelligent and powerful version to date. And with a flagship feature like the FloorPlanner, it offers an overall more robust set of functionality compared to previous versions and even other high-end vacuums on the market.

Neato’s latest addition to its robotic vacuum family is said to be launching sometime towards the end of the year. While there is no official launch date, the Botvac D7 will retail for $799 upon release. While the price tag is certainly high, getting such a robust range of features doesn’t come cheap. So if you’re looking for what may be the best autonomous vacuum on the market, the Botvac D7’s steep going rate might not seem so bad.

The Neato Botvac D7 Connected is the most powerful robot vacuum in the Neato family. With incredibly powerful suction, ultra-performance filter and our best connectivity, this clever little wonder tirelessly fights to keep your floor dirt, hair, fur and allergen-free — on your schedule. So you don’t have to. Neato’s exclusive laser technology lets the Botvac D7 Connected map and navigate multiple rooms with more precision. This means more thorough floor coverage, 4x faster cleaning and greater care around furniture, even in the dark. The Botvac D7 Connected’s unique D-shape allows it to get deeper into corners and closer to walls than other round robots.

Get clean floors every day, even when you’re not home. The Botvac D7 Connected tackles an entire floor with ease, automatically recharging if needed to get the job done. When you’re away from home, you can control the Botvac D7 Connected remotely from your smartphone, or using voice commands with Amazon Alexa, IFTTT or Google Home. Even see where it’s cleaned while you’ve been out with its in-app cleaning summary.
