Kleverness is a unique smart lighting system that’s compatible with HomeKit and more

If you’re like me, there’s something you’ve been wanting to do for a long time: convert your standard home to a smart home. This could be expensive, buying lights for every fixture or trying to find compatible switches or plugs to turn your device on and off at will. Until now, it’s been quite cumbersome to convert over. I have a mixture of Hue lights and Z-Wave switches in my home to control different lights. Sadly, none of these control plug-in lights (except for Hue, but at $30+ a bulb, that gets expensive.)

My other issue is that some of my smart lighting setup is HomeKit compatible, some are Assistant compatible, but none work with everything. Kleverness is a new smart home lighting system that’s compatible with HomeKit, Assistant, Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. Bringing a completely new design to smart lighting, this might just be the product we’ve been waiting for.

Each Kleverness switch can control up to 3 switches. Yes, that’s right. With one wall switch, you can control what used to be up to 3 switches. Kleverness will automatically detect how many switches you’ve got connected and show you that many on the face of the device.

This unique smart lighting system doesn’t require a neutral wire so it can be installed in new or old homes. If you normally had two- or three-way switches, don’t worry, as Kleverness can function like that as well.

Kleverness runs off of a local radio frequency, and each device acts as a repeater. This means that Wi-Fi signal in your home is no factor, and as long as you have a Kleverness device every 45-meters, you’re good to go.

If you’d rather have dimmers than just switches, Kleverness can do that too. With motion gestures for dimming or just using the app, they’ve got you covered.

Kleverness even makes connected outlets so you can just swap the old one for a new smart outlet and go. This means that any type of device that plugs in can be controlled, be it a lamp, TV, gaming console, or more.

If you’ve constantly got people coming and going from your house, they can access the smart features too. Kleverness gives full user management so you can choose how much, or how little access to your home each user gets. Run an Airbnb? Give the guests access that only lasts for their stay. Kleverness gives unlimited users, so you don’t have to worry about hitting a user cap.

There are even proximity sensors built into Kleverness, meaning that if you enable “night mode” to turn off the LEDs on the units at night, when you approach them they turn back on for a short while. This is awesome as it helps you find that light switch in the dark and then goes back to “night mode” once you’re done.

Kleverness also has a built-in geofence, meaning you can set your home up to turn off when you leave and come back on when you arrive. This makes sure that you don’t forget to turn off the bathroom or closet light when you leave, as it kills everything automatically. If you’re going on an extended vacation, Kleverness actually has a built-in AI that will turn lights on and off as you normally would, simulating the presence of a human being in your home while you’re away.

Starting at $87 for your choice of a switch or dimmer and a hub, Kleverness is right on par with other smart lighting systems. If you’d like to outfit your entire home, an additional switch or dimmer is $49, while each outlet is $35. They have several different pledge options for you to choose from, so head on over to the Kickstarter page to view them all. Hurry though, as there are only 12 days to go at the time of writing.
