Here’s the first gameplay trailer for Injustice 2’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The folks at NeatherRealm Studios really know how to make fighting games. The most recent entry in the Mortal Kombat series received solid review scores back in 2015, much the way Injustice 2 did in May of last year when it hit store shelves. And NeatherRealm is continuing to support the sequel to its expanded DC Universe fighter. While we may have caught a very quick glimpse of Leo, Mikey, Raph and Donatello in the previous teaser trailer, today we are getting our first look at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the 2017 Fighting Game of the Year

Joining the roster as part of the game’s scheduled DLC, all four turtles are coming to Injustice 2 next week. And we have the very first footage of them in action down below.

NeatherRealm looks to be implementing the turtles in a very interesting way. While players can choose between any of them as their main fighter, many of the special moves and attacks will have the green brothers jumping in from off-screen to lend a hand. The actual selection process is integrated in to Injustice 2’s weapon load-out system. Simply choose between the staff, sai, katana or nunchucks to select the appropriate turtle.

TMNT can be tough when it comes to visuals. There is always someone who prefers the older comic-style or those that lean towards the early 90’s film personas. But as far as I’m concerned, NeatherRealm has done a pretty good job here landing somewhere in the middle. But check them out for yourself below:

Deep below the surface, in the sewers of New York City, four turtle brothers were mutated by radioactive ooze and began training in the art of ninjutsu. While in a fight with the fearsome Krang—our heroes in a half-shell were jettisoned on a one way trip across the Multiverse.

The Ninja Turtles will be joining the Injustice 2 roster starting on February 13th in the Ultimate Edition or as part of Fighter Pack 3. Although you will be able to purchase them separately on your respective online marketplace shortly thereafter (February 20th).
