Review: Latest Incase MacBook nylon sleeves and organizers are travel must-haves

About a month ago, Incase formally introduced its latest MacBook sleeves and a new nylon accessory organizer. While working at home has its perks, it’s not ideal for testing out travel gear. I was luckily able to change that last week and fully go hands-on with the latest Incase releases. A few thoughts and a quick look below.

When I think of Incase, the first thing that comes to my mind are its line of sleeves. I remember being at the Apple Store 10 years ago (or more) trying to find the perfect protection for my first MacBook. The shelves were lined with Incase offerings and the brand has withstood the test of time while adding a wide range of travel-focused goods. While now expanding its lineup to include various suitcases and other luggage, Apple-friendly storage has always been its bread and butter.

Compact Sleeve |

The $50 Compact Sleeve from Incase leans on that veteran accessory-maker experience, improving on those popular sleeves mentioned above. I’ve waxed poetic about the fabric version before, but Incase has updated that model in a few different ways with its latest release.

Incase’s new Compact Sleeve is made for MacBooks up to 13-inches in size. It ships in either olive or mulberry (mine is the former) with dedicated storage for your device and a few accessories. Inside the larger compartment is a padded fabric area that keeps from scratching your MacBook. The outside storage space lacks any padding, so you will want to be careful with any valuables there.

There are two reasons that I prefer the new nylon version to Incase’s traditional offerings. First, it’s much harder to get nylon dirty and it’s friendly to a splash of water when in need of a cleaning. Second, it feels more modern than its cotton counterpart.

In my experience, I was able to store my 13-inch MacBook, USB-C wall charger, a separate power bank and any necessary cabling with ease. It’s also a great fit for Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro. If you like to carry much more than that, you’ll need additional storage.

Nylon Accessory Organizer |

Did I say you might need more storage? Incase has you covered with its Nylon Accessory Organizer. Many of the same traits that I mentioned above apply to this product, but the overall design is much more conducive to managing multiple cables and chargers.

Opening up the inside reveals a variety of compartments that range in size and material. There’s nylon bands for tying down cables, zippered pouches for important things like flash drives and more.

When considering the two products in today’s review, I actually find the organizer to be more valuable in my travel. It’s far more versatile, and actually makes a great home for Apple Watch chargers and bands. Incase really nailed it here as a companion to its Compact Sleeve or as a stand-alone accessory. It sells for $50 direct from Incase, as well.
