Control the new Roland Alexa GO:PIANO with voice commands + new flagship 88-key model

Alexa GO:PIANO

Music company Roland is unveiling a new Alexa GO:PIANO alongside a new larger version with Bluetooth built-in. The existing lineup of GO: instruments and keyboards is to some degree geared towards educational applications and now it’s getting some brand new features along with a new flagship model this week.

Alexa has been baked in to just about everything these days, from Bluetooth speakers and headphones to kitchen appliances and just about everything in between. Even Skyrim got in on the action. And now Roland is in the process of bringing its first Amazon assistant-laden digital piano to market.

Alexa GO:PIANO:

Much like the already available GO:PIANO, the new Alexa model is essentially your usual workhorse digital piano with a typical feature set and makes for a great beginner stage instrument or home learning tool. While Alexa might not actually make all that much sense for a pro in front of an audience, it sounds like it could be quite useful at home.

While the complete feature set is still being ironed out, Roland says all of the piano’s settings can be accessed via voice commands without taking your hands off the keys. That might include things like changing the sound, tone or even volume controls, among other things. In combination with a built-in Wi-Fi connection, the new Alexa Skill will allow users to access a cloud-based platform. It will provide a large library of play-along songs as well the ability to share recordings with friends and the like.

There are no release dates or prices available on the Alexa GO:PIANO just yet.

88-Key Bluetooth GO:PIANO

Roland is also debuting the new GO:PIANO88. The 88-key, full size digital piano sports much of the same feature set as its siblings, along with a Bluetooth connection. That allows for a direct connection with your smartphone in order to stream backing tracks or learning resources directly through the machine.

With Roland GO:PIANO88 and a smartphone, anyone can play and learn music whenever inspiration strikes. Its lightweight design is easy to carry and set up anywhere, while high-quality onboard speakers, battery operation, and Bluetooth eliminate the need to fuss with add-ons such as external amplifiers, AC power, and messy cables. GO:PIANO88 also supports listening with headphones, allowing users to play at any time without disturbing others.

Much like the Alexa GO:PIANO, there doesn’t appear to be any information on a release date or a price here either. But considering the $300+ price tag the original 61-key model fetches, you’re most likely looking at something in the $400 or $500 range.
