Kohler unwraps gorgeous Alexa-enabled Verdera Mirror, new Konnect smart platform

It’s finally happened. Alexa is in your bathroom. Popular fixture manufacturer Kohler has this morning announced a new platform called Kohler Konnect that delivers Amazon’s voice assistant to the loo. The new line of products will be on display at CES next week and includes a whole array of toilets, mirrors and showers (although only a few sport Alexa at this time).

As you might expect, Kohler is bringing voice automation to a variety of bathroom tasks. And while hitting the exact temperature in your bath is nice, it’s the addition of Alexa to your mirror that has us re-thinking our morning routine.

Mad Catz makes triumphant return following bankruptcy w/ new wireless gaming gear

Nearly a year after it entered bankruptcy, Mad Catz has returned after all of its assets were purchased by a third-party in China. Operating under the new name Mad Catz Global Limited, the brand is unveiling a fresh line of gaming accessories today. The guys that are officially behind this resurgence have worked at the China-based manufacturing plant for years. Their familiarity with the brand will hopefully serve it well in the years to come.

CES 2018 will mark the official unveiling of a fresh line of Mad Catz accessories. The plan is to show off twelve new products next week in Vegas, including eight mice, two keyboards and two headsets. More details below.

TiVo looks ahead with ‘Next-Gen Platform’ featuring cloud-based content curation

This morning, TiVo has announced the next generation of its content platform that is heavily-focused on a new streaming service. Dubbed the Next-Gen Platform, TiVo hopes to finally bring the unification of our content across all devices that we’ve been longing for. That includes cable providers, streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, along with your own content.

The Next-Gen Platform will be based around TiVo’s upcoming cloud service that it has been teasing for some time. And while this all seems like an obvious next step for our digital lives, bringing all of our content into one location has largely alluded the big studios and providers to date.

If you missed it yesterday, LG announced an 88-inch 8K OLED TV and it’s mind-bogglingly beautiful. To say I’m stoked to see it in person would be an understatement. But, we’re not here to talk about the 8K OLED behemoth from LG, we’re here to talk about its upcoming 2018 lineup of 4K TVs.

LG has long been one of the standards for 4K HDR with its OLED technology. Coming back this year is its “Wallpaper” OLED TV which is both beautiful and insanely priced. Hopefully, we’ll start to see pricing come down on the super thin TVs like this, as I would love to add one to my personal home theater setup.

Roku teases upcoming voice assistant and audio streaming platform ahead of CES

In case Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant weren’t enough, Roku is now throwing itself into the highly-competitive voice assistant space at CES 2018. Although we’ve seen some rumors in recent months that it may be unveiling its own wireless speaker, the popular streaming media player manufacturer has today announced that it will be licensing out its software to third-parties.

Roku has been doing this with its software for years in partnership with TV brands such as TCL and Sharp. This is, however, its first foray into the world of voice assistants. LG details impressive 88-inch 8K OLED display ahead of CES 2018

CES 2018 is just around the corner and many of the top brands and manufacturers will descend on Las Vegas to unveil this year’s hottest tech. LG is already stepping out with details on its upcoming 8K OLED display. While 4K and HDR have both enjoyed more mainstream adoption in the last 12-months – thanks to impressive Black Friday discounts, particularly – the next generation is already starting to develop.
