Life happens and despite what Apple may think, you’re going to need more than a single USB-C port to get by. Companies are jumping on this new standard with a breadth of new accessories including cables, adapters, and docks.
Nonda has just launched a new USB-C hub that’s built from higher-quality materials and packs more features than Apple’s pricey adapters…
Plug the single USB-C cable from nonda’s Hub+ into your 12-inch MacBook and you’ll gain a range of connectivity options: three USB-A ports, Displayport 1.2 (supports 4k at 60hz), SDXC card reader, and 2 USB-C ports. So you’ll have no problem uploading pics from your DSLR camera, charging your iPhone, or running a secondary display from your MacBook.
Aside from its connectivity options, Hub+ also features a built-in 400mAh battery to keep your iPhone charged while on-the-road.
Just like your iPhone and MacBook, Hub+ is made of aluminum. You can expect to see it offered in three different colors (from $79) as long as nonda’s stretch goal is met. There’s also a 24 Karat gold-plated model ($3999) for those of you that need your Mac accessories to match your Apple Watch Edition.
The Hub+ Kickstarter campaign has already surpassed its initial $35,000 goal and should start shipping this June.
Nonda Launches a 7-Port USB-C Hub with Charging Capabilities for the New MacBook
Palo Alto, California – Nonda (http://nonda.co) just launched a Kickstarter campaign for funding their Hub+, a USB-C 7-port solution for the new MacBook. It is the only hub in the market that can also charge a phone on the go.
The Hub+ has a durable Aluminum Alloy construction and is beautifully designed to blend well with the MacBook. It contains 7 ports: 2 USB-C, 1 SDXC Card Reader, 1 Display Port, and 3 USB-A, which are also charging ports. The product has been made with precision and quality in Germany, with design-conscious and discerning consumers in mind. The company has used advanced production techniques to make it as thin and light as possible – with a weight of 3.5 ounces, a length of 4.8 inches, and a width of 1.5 inches.
The Hub+ is small enough to fit in the hand or pocket. It works with the new USB-C as well as traditional USB-A plugs. It is a handy device for business travelers, executives, university students, and other MacBook users.
This product serves as a hub for the new MacBook, where users can plug in their gear and charge their laptop (or other USB devices) concurrently. More importantly, users don’t have to always remember to charge their external battery chargers for their phones. With the Hub+, they never have to worry because Hub+ in-built lithium ion battery will always be charged up and ready to go when users naturally use the product as a hub. For times when a phone’s battery is dead, the Hub+ can provide one phone with up to 2 hours of battery life (or 2.5 hours of talking time on iPhone 6).
“Extra ports should not be at the expense of portability. People buy the new MacBook because of its slim profile. They’re not looking for bulky multi-port solutions to add on top of it”, says Jia Li, CEO and co-founder of Nonda. “What we’ve designed is something that will give them 6 ports, a beautiful compact design, and on-the-go charging power that’s not available with any other hubs.”
Kickstarter backers will be able to get the Hub+ for $79, same price as Apple’s adapter but with more ports and functionality (actual retail price will be $99). A bonus mini adapter will be given away to the first 1000 backers. Shipments to Kickstarter backers are expected to go out by end of June, 2015. If the stretch goal is met, backers will be offered two bonus color choices of gold and gray, in addition to silver, for the Hub+ to go with their MacBooks.
Additionally, a pledge of $3999 can score backers a 24 Karat gold-plated Hub+ (with a gold mini adapter) and an engraving of their choice.
The product will ultimately retail for $99 on Nonda’s website and Amazon page, and will be available for general public (i.e. non Kickstarter backers) by Fall of 2015.
