Monoprice unveils Strata Home: affordable Sous Vide cookers, robo vacs and more

Monoprice is the name behind some of our favorite third-party accessories and tech. Known for taking a no-nonsense approach to marketing and pricing, the online brand is now entering a new space: the kitchen.

Its new Strata Home line includes everything from Sous Vide cookers to robotic vacuum cleaners, as well as other cooking and baking products. The goal is to bridge the gap between affordability and cutting edge technology, which is a Monoprice speciality.

The Strata line of home goods features a wide range of products. Two that caught our eye right away are the 800W Sous Vide Precision Cooker and the MP Smartvac 2.0. Both of which come in at a lower price than brand name competitors on the market today.

When it comes to Sous Vide, you probably think of Anova and its popular cookers that have dominated this space for awhile now. Monoprice is undercutting the leader by over 50%, pricing its version at $70. The 800W cooker includes a digital LED touchscreen and adjustable mount system that’s design to fit just about any pot. Sure, it doesn’t offer the same Wi-Fi connectivity as Anova, but for significantly less your receiving many similar features.

As well, we’re intrigued by Monoprice’s robotic vacuum. While Roomba has long controlled the AI-cleaning market, brands like Anker have also made in-roads with sub-brands like Eufy. The reality is that vacuuming is a pain and these nifty autonomous vacuums can be a great way to skip out on chores. Trouble is, the price often scares many potential buyers away.

Monoprice’s MP Smartvac 2.0 ditches the smartphone connectivity but again offers many of the same features for less than the industry leader. This includes a .5 liter capacity, up to 100 minutes of run time and 24-hour around the clock scheduling. Four cleaning modes are managed by the included remote control. The MP Smartvac 2.0 sells for $200, while many comparable Roomba units come in at $400+.

It’s no surprise that Monoprice has attempted to make a dent in the home cleaning space, as this area has become a point of interest for many technology brands. CEO Bernard Luthi explains further:

“In our ongoing pursuit of category expansion, we realized many of the most innovative and best-in-class products in the home appliance space aren’t offered to consumers at an affordable price point.”

Monoprice has begun rolling out its new Strata brand online, with varying degrees of availability at the time of our story. You can head over to this official landing page to check out the entire selection of home goods that are available.
