Best Black Friday gaming deals

April is here, and with it comes new game releases. Last month saw the release of Far Cry 5, Sea of Thieves, Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered and much more. This month, we are seeing God of War’s triumphant return as Kratos takes on Norse mythology, the latest Yakuza title makes it stateside, and Nintendo’s cardboard Toy-Con finally come to life.

All that and more in April’s best game releases down below:

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life  PS4 – Apr 17th

After the North American launch was pushed back another month, the seventh entry in the Yakuza series is finally upon is. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will one again star protagonist Kazuma Kiryu with both Kamurocho and Hiroshima as explorable cities. The game’s iconic, over-the-top street fighting is back in full effect along with all of those wacky mini games and side quests from batting cages to karaoke and the SEGA arcade.

Check out some gameplay footage and the cities in the footage below from PlayStation:

In Yakuza 6, Kazuma Kiryu will find out exactly how much people are willing to sacrifice for family – be those ties through blood or bond – when he investigates a series of shadowy events that involve the ones he holds closest to his heart.

God of War PS4 – Apr 20th

While it might be a quiet month for game releases overall, God of War is finally back. This has to be one of the bigger PS4 exclusive titles hitting Sony’s platform this year and early impressions seem to be positive. The setting has changed drastically this time around as Kratos finds himself amongst the Norse Gods and with his son.

While the buddy gameplay does have me worried – these kinds of things almost always end up being annoying for me personally – the new setting is intriguing and it looks as though the reboot is going to be just as much a spectacle as previous entries in the series.

Nintendo Labo Variety/Robot Kit Switch – Apr 20th

The first major Labo kits – Nintendo’s new cardboard toys-to-life products – are releasing on April 20th. That includes both the Robot and Variety Kits starting at $69.99. Your DIY creations, called Toy-Con, can be just about anything you think of but the new kits will include pre-cut kits for a “remote-control car, fishing rod, 13-key piano, or toy house.”

We have already covered Nintendo’s new Labo toys extensively. Back in February we had a chance to go hands-on with the interesting little devices. You can read all about our experience with the new kits and much more right here.

Nintendo Labo Variety Kit $70

Nintendo Labo Robot Kit $80

While it is certainly not the busiest month, there are some major PS4 releases on the way. And despite only having a handful of smaller titles releasing all month, Xbox One gamers will be getting their hands on the physiological thriller meets action game, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice come April 11th.

Beyond that, Switch gamers will get the latest South Park game on April 24th, some 4 days after the launch of the aforementioned Labo kits.

Lastly, from the creators of the hit indie iOS/PC title This War of Mine comes an intersting town builder-survival hybrid known as Frost Punk which release on April 24th as well.
