Feher unveils the ‘world’s first’ motorcycle helmet with built-in air conditioning

For the folks that love riding their motorcycles, but do not enjoy summer heat, Feher has unveiled its new ACH-1 helmet to keep riders more comfortable in warm weather. With a self-contained air conditioning unit, this helmet distributes cool air along the top of riders’ heads, providing up to a 10-15º Fahrenheit decrease.

Steve Feher, the man behind the ACH-1, has been confident that the helmet’s complex design would work even before he was able to test the first prototype.

This is not really surprising when you consider that he has already patented similar technology that is used for cooling seats in high-end vehicles brands such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, and more.

Having earned millions from his patents, Feher had the resources to begin work on some of his other ideas, which have led us to the official release of the ACH-1.

To distribute filtered, cool air throughout the helmet, thermoelectric technology (like HP’s upcoming Mindframe gaming headset) is used in tandem with Feher’s patented Tubular Spacer Fabric. The air travels along the top of the helmet, keeping riders’ heads cool.

Feher calls this out on its helmet landing page saying, “the Feher ACH-1 is not designed to give you an ice cream headache or create a cooled environment around your face like when riding in a car. It is designed to reduce the interior temperature around the top of your head during hot rides compared to using a traditional helmet.”

If you are curious how the helmet is powered, the answer is quite simple, it uses the motorcycle’s battery. The helmet includes the necessary components to connect to the battery. If you would prefer to power it from an external battery pack, this is also an option when using batteries like this.

With technology proven to work for seat cooling in some of the most respected vehicle brands in the world, it would certainly seem that the Feher ACH-1 would be a great option for riders to consider, but only time will tell.

If you fancy yourself an air-conditioned motorcycle helmet, the Feher ACH-1 is available for order now with a retail price of $599.99. The company is offering early adopters a $50 savings, bringing the price down to just $549.99.

While you can order a multitude of helmets over at Amazon for less than Feher’s, you are very likely to regret your decision each time you break a sweat while on the road.
