A new PlayStation 5 Slim might be on the way, according to Microsoft. We are certainly on the back end of the current console-generation, and what the next iteration of gaming hardware from Microsoft and PlayStation might look like is entirely up in the air – all digital streaming devices maybe? But it looks like Microsoft thinks we are still to expect a next iteration known as the PlayStation 5 Slim before any of that happens after it mentioned as much during the recent FTC v. Microsoft hearing, according to reports. It also seems to think it has the inside scoop on an/the upcoming PS5 handheld pricing. More details below. 

After rolling out its new PlayStation Plus system over the last year or so, it looks like PS5 cloud gaming is on the way in a major way. While Sony has always seemed as though it was playing catch-up with Xbox Live/Game Pass, and in many ways it has, its PlayStation Plus initiative is making a valiant attempt at bridging the gap for its player base. Today, alongside details on the next batch of titles coming to its streaming catalog for members and 10 days of activities for the community, Sony is announcing that it is now testing out cloud streaming for supported PS5 games. After what could only be described as a truly epic summer PlayStation Showcase (I cannot wait for this MGS3 remake!), Sony has announced its massive annual Days of Play sale. For the last few years, Sony has launched a wide-ranging summer sale loaded with price drops on its subscription services and hardware that sits alongside a giant collection of digital game deals and more. Now, after taking to its official PlayStation Blog to detail this year’s festivities, we know everything will kick off early Friday morning and all of the details you need to know to prepare are waiting down below. 

It looks as though the pseudo-PlayStation E3 showcase has now been announced, and it’s going to be a big one. Heads up, folks, E3 might have been officially canceled this year, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting some notable gaming showcases. Plus, they appear to be starting sooner than expected. While many of the annual presentations from the major publishers and developers tend to land in the summer months (June and beyond), it now looks as though things might be starting a little early on the PlayStation side of things. Sony has now taken to its official blog to announce its new LeBron James PlayStation accessories. With four championships on the shelf and after becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, LeBron is now linking up with PlayStation once again for some specially-designed PS5 accessories. As part of the PlayStation Playmakers program, today Sony is announcing “a limited edition PlayStation 5 console cover and DualSense wireless controller collaboratively designed with PlayStation Playmaker, sports icon, philanthropist, entrepreneur (and part-time God of War), LeBron James.” Head below for a closer look and more details. 

PlayStation VR2 launch day has finally arrived! The latest iteration of PlayStation’s VR system is officially launching worldwide today. It has been a long time coming for Sony’s next-generation PS VR2 system. After being officially unveiled almost two years ago now for the first time, we got our first look at the headset in February 2022 and now, exactly one year later, PlayStation VR2 has finally landed. Now less than 24 hours from the official launch of its next generation virtual reality gaming system, Sony has detailed ten new PS VR2 games. Today will mark the first chance to lock in your pre-order for the PlayStation DualSense Edge, Sony’s new pro-grade controller for PS5.
